Program Overview

The Institute's year-long professional development program is comprised of three learning formats: On-Site Residency*, Small Group Case Consultation, and Webinars.

On-Site Residency*

  • *Choice of in-person, on site residency or virtual residency is available. 
  • Occur 3 times per year.
    • Residency I: Oct.23-25, 2023
    • Residency II: April 18-20, 2024
    • Residency III: Oct. 17-19, 2024
  • Participants partake in a hands-on experience filled with lecture, practice application, video recorded case illustration and group discussion.
  • Each residency session offers up to 18 continuing education credits/hours.

Small Group Case Consultation

  • Occur 3 times per month, in 90-minute sessions via Zoom video conferencing in your own home/office. Schedule is determined by the instructor’s and participants’ availability.
  • Participants present case examples from their practice settings as a way of integrating classroom material and mastering skills.
  • No continuing education credits will be issued for small group case consultation.

Live Webinars​​

  • ​Occur 6 times per year (typically every other month) for 90 minutes via Zoom video conferencing in your own home/office.
  • Topics include: Addiction, Culture and Context, Private Practice Development, Psychopharmacology, Sexuality and Spirituality.
  • Three (3) continuing education credits/hours will be issued for each webinar.

Continuing Education Information

The Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy at Loyola University Chicago is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy at Loyola University Chicago maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
  • ​​The certificate program is offering 72 hours of Continuing Education credits for psychologists.​​
  • The Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy maintains responsibility for this program and its content. 
  • Social workers licensed in the state of Illinois will receive 72 hours of credit through Loyola University School of Social Work. Social Workers licensed outside of Illinois should check with their state licensing board to determine where CE credits approved by the APA and/or the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) are accepted. ​​​​
